Design Notes:
Cope2 and I come from the same neighborhood, so we felt it was only right to tell the story of the Bronx, NY, through a unique color story. Titled Concrete Jungle, the sneaker features an all-grey upper with green contrast stitching to represent the 4 train line that runs through our neighborhood. The green accents also serve as a nod to jungle, while the speckled outsole is inspired by graffiti drips. The sneakers also showcase bubble letters with "Ewing" on one shoe and "Cope" on the other, with graffiti placement on the lateral side intentionally designed to mimic the look of a throw-up on a concrete wall. For the overall layout, I drew additional inspiration from Virgil Abloh’s Louis Vuitton x Air Force 1 collaboration, using it as a reference point to ensure the execution felt deliberate and authentic rather than referential. The project became both a tribute to the Bronx and to one of my biggest creative influences, Virgil Abloh.
To celebrate the release, I commissioned Cope2 to create a custom mural at the back of our office—allowing the collaboration to live beyond the product and into physical space and community.
The sneaker resonated beyond footwear culture, earning national exposure through a feature on Access Hollywood and later being included in an exhibition at the Museum of Graffiti in Miami.
