Design Notes:

This color story was years in the making. I designed this shoe in early 2022 with the goal of releasing it on 4/8/2024, during the Great North American Eclipse. It was kind of an inside joke, as the model name of this sneaker is literally Eclipse. The sneakers feature an all-black nubuck upper with white contrast stitching, reflective paneling, and a custom Solar Eclipse logo replacing the standard one we usually use on the Eclipse. I put a lot of effort into ensuring the storytelling within the design was accurate. The sole of the shoe depicts the transformative journey of a solar eclipse. As the eclipse progresses, the orange letters in "EWING" gradually fade, and the basketball emblem transitions to white. This detail symbolizes the moon passing directly between the sun and Earth during a total solar eclipse. With the next solar eclipse not happening again until August 22, 2044, it was truly incredible to release these sneakers to coincide with this rare event.
